Day 1 – Friday: Arrival & Kickoff
Arrive at Lake Martin: Check into your accommodations for the weekend. We love Wind Creek State Park, which is one of the largest state-owned campgrounds in the United States. The park offers campers a wide range of activities, including zip lining, hiking, putt-putt, horseback riding, and more. Dinner on the Lake: Be sure to check out any of the waterfront options during Labor Day Weekend. Many of the waterfront spots are seasonal, making Labor Day Weekend one of the last opportunities before they close for the season. Check out The Landing at Harbor Pointe or The Landing at Parker Creek for casual dining with an upscale flair, with menu items like sushi, poke bowls, and filet mignon sliders.
Labor Day Weekend Music Fest: Enjoy night 1 of the Labor Day Weekend Music Fest at Russell Crossroads. This is a free, family-friendly event. Be sure to bring a cooler, lawn chair, and a leash for the pups. Enjoy music starting at 6:30 PM from The Bank Walkers, followed by EAT A PEACH, an Allman Brothers tribute band.
Day 2 – Saturday: Adventure & Music
Breakfast: Get your day started on the right foot with a classic Lake Martin breakfast. We have lots of options for breakfast. Start your day at the new Wake House Lake Martin, or check out Fanny’s at Russell Crossroads. On the Water: After breakfast, head out on the water. We offer a variety of boat rental options and personalized tours around the lake. During your time on the water, be sure to check out local stops like Peanut Point or check out the themed islands around the lake. For lunch, enjoy several waterfront restaurants and hangouts. Favorites around the lake include Chuck’s Marina, Lake Martin Beach Club, or Boondocks at Bay Pine. Don’t miss the famous Yellow Top Ice Cream Shop for a sweet treat on the water.
Labor Day Weekend Music Fest: Enjoy night 2 of the Labor Day Weekend Music Fest at Russell Crossroads. This is a free, family-friendly event. Be sure to bring a cooler, lawn chair, and a leash for the pups. Enjoy music starting at 6:30 PM from Main Street Lights, followed by The Negotiators. Both acts cover all the favorite hits you know and love.
Day 3 – Sunday: Relax & Explore
Slow Morning Breakfast: Relax and enjoy the laid-back lake living on Sunday morning. Head to a variety of coffee shops or quaint breakfast spots around the lake. Enjoy peaceful views from the water, or grab breakfast and coffee to go for a scenic picnic at Overlook Park.
Take a Hike: Take a hike after breakfast and enjoy one of the trails at Overlook Park, or head down the road and visit the brand-new Overlook Fire Tower. Along the trails, you’ll be delighted to enjoy scenic lake views and iconic Lake Martin landmarks. If hitting the trails isn’t your speed, try out the Lost Goats of Lake Martin scavenger hunt. Perfect for families, this activity takes you to a variety of attractions around the lake.
Sunset Dinner: Enjoy a relaxed Sunday dinner at waterfront spots like The Social or Lake Martin’s oldest restaurant, Kowaliga Restaurant, known for the infamous Indian statue that inspired country music legend Hank Williams.
Day 4 – Monday: Farewell
One Last Lake Morning: Wake up and take in the last views of Lake Martin, enjoy some local shopping, and enjoy a final breakfast before hitting the road.
Final Stop: If traveling via US-HWY 280, be sure to stop and enjoy local history at Horseshoe Bend National Military Park.
