You don’t need a lake house to enjoy all that Lake Martin has to offer. With more than 880 miles of shoreline and countless coves, Lake Martin is full of public access points that make it easy for anyone to enjoy the water. Whether you’re planning a full day of boating, a quiet afternoon of fishing, or just want to cool off with a swim, there are several great places to launch your adventure.
Wind Creek State Park is one of the most popular access points, offering a full-service marina, multiple boat ramps, a sandy swimming beach, and even paddleboard and kayak rentals. As one of the largest state parks in the U.S., it also features picnic areas, nature trails, and a campground—making it perfect for both day use and weekend getaways.

In Dadeville, Smith Landing provides a public boat ramp with easy access to the open water. It’s a convenient option for boaters, especially those looking to explore the eastern side of the lake. Another east side option is Union Boat Ramp, which is quiet, scenic, and a great place to start your day on the lake without the crowds.

In Alexander City, the Alex City Boat Ramp, located near the U.S. Highway 280 bridge, is one of the most centrally located and easily accessible public ramps on Lake Martin. With ample parking for vehicles and trailers, it’s a popular launch point for anglers, boaters, and paddlers looking to explore the northern portion of the lake. The nearby bridge and open water make it a convenient starting point for fishing trips, scenic cruises, or simply enjoying a day on the water with quick access to nearby marinas, coves, and dining spots.

If you’re simply looking to take in the views, D.A.R.E. Power Park offers walk-up access for swimming or relaxing by the water. Bring a chair, pack a cooler, and enjoy an easy lake day without ever getting on a boat.
