Lake Martin Dragon Boat Race & Festival Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for our inaugural Lake Martin Dragon Boat Race & Festival! The event will be held on Saturday, April 18th at Wind Creek State Park.
Most volunteer shifts will last approximately three hours on the day of the event, and we also have opportunities to assist with set-up on Friday, April 17th.
These are areas and explanations of where volunteers are needed to make the festival fun and safe for everyone. Volunteers will check-in 15 minutes prior to their shift at the Volunteer Check-In / Information table located at the beach area parking lot.

Below is more information about volunteer opportunities.
JOB: Assist teams to locate their tent areas. Help set up tents, tables, chairs, banners, etc. This is an active position and involves walking, lifting, carrying. We will have a vehicle to move heavy items.
LOCATION: Wind Creek State Park – Beach Area
STAFFING: 4 per shift (3 hr shift)
DATE: Friday, April 17th
JOB: Assist teams to locate their tent areas. Help set up tents, tables, chairs, banners, etc. that were not completed the day before. This is an active position and involves walking, lifting, carrying. We will have a vehicle to move heavy items.
LOCATION: Beach Parking Lot
STAFFING: 1 Shift, 4 total (2 1/2 hr shift)
DATE: Saturday, April 18th
JOB: Welcome and provide assistance and information to teams and spectators. Check-in teams & volunteers and designate to assigned areas. Standing or seated at tented area.
LOCATION: One table located at beach area.
STAFFING: 1 shift, 4 total (3 1/2 hr shift)
DATE: Saturday, April 18th
IMPORTANT – Marshals – For the Lake Martin Dragon Boat Race & Festival First Year – We will not have our own Marshals but will use the organization bringing the event to us. But this is what it will look like for following years in case you are interested.
JOB: 2 marshals per team to escort teams from “double on-deck” area to “on-deck waiting area” and when signaled to their boat to assist with on/off loading. 2 marshals will help manage the “double on-deck” area where teams switch off life jackets. Standing, walking,
bending required.
LOCATION: Rotation from beach pre-marshaling area to the shore and back to beach pre-marshaling area, both in the sun.
STAFFING: 10 per shift (2 hr shift)
DATE: Saturday, April 18th
JOB: There will be 2 Dragon Boats racing while 2 boats offload and reload. 2 dock marshals will hold each boat and assist with off/on loading. standing, bending required.
LOCATION: On the beach.
STAFFING: 4 per shift (2 hr shifts)
DATE: Saturday, April 18th
JOB: There are 2 individual holding locations on the water. Boat Holders will hold the boats until the start of the race.

JOB: Help take down tents, stack and load chairs, remove banners and clean-up park. This is an active position and involves walking, lifting, carrying. We will have a vehicle to move heavy items. Lifting, walking, bending required.
LOCATION: Beach Area
STAFFING: 1 Shift, 16 total (2 1/2 hr shift)
