Wind Creek State Park

South of Alexander City on Alabama Highway 128 you’ll find one of the largest state-owned campgrounds in the United States, Wind Creek State Park. However, that distinction is not the only thing that makes Wind Creek special. Wind Creek State Park is the public’s access to Lake Martin offering scenic lake views, hiking fishing, boating and family-friendly outdoor adventure.

Putt Putt Golf

This miniature golf course provides 18 holes designed from local area attractions. There are putters for all sizes. Anyone under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Screaming Eagle Zip Line Canopy Tours

Experience 10 ziplines and five sky walks in the trees with heights from 20 to 70 feet in the air and ziplines ranging in length from 200 to 650 feet. Great lake views, fun bridge walks and exhilarating ziplines.

Hiking Trails

The Alabama Reunion Trail
  • This moderate to difficult trail is approximately 3.8 miles in length and traverses both hardwood bottoms and pine forest. Several natural features can be noted, which include an old home site on the northern half, picturesque hardwood bottoms, stands of pine, beds of fern and an abundance of bird and animal life.

  • The North Side is approximately 1.95 miles and the South Side is 1.8 miles.

The Campfire Trail
  • This trail begins and ends in the northern section of the Park. Rated primarily moderate with several steep areas, this trail is approximately 1.8 miles in length and marked by a yellow trail blaze. The three connectors, blue, white and orange, are approximately 1/5 mile each. During the spring, white dogwood, buckeye and oak leaf-hydrangea paint the hardwood ridges with brilliant color. This trail traverses both mixed hardwood forest and intermittent pine. Midway up the trail, a series of rock outcroppings occurs bordered by an abundance of ferns. Toward the end of the trail, a small stream bisects the path leading south.
Speckled Snake Trail
  • The Speckled Snake Trail is a 3 mile moderately difficult loop trail that consist of several wooded hills and great views of the water in some parts.

Rockin’ K Horseback Riding

 

Rockin’ K at Wind Creek State Park offers guided horseback trail rides along the scenic Jeff Reed Horse Trail — a 20-mile system featuring diverse landscapes, wildlife views, and Lake Martin overlooks. All trails are horse-friendly, and overflow camping with 20 additional sites is available for horse campers. Must call to make reservations.
