Horseshoe Bend National Military Park Symposium

Together with the Friends of Horseshoe Bend, Horseshoe Bend National Military Park invites the public to attend its annual symposium at Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities (also known as Pebble Hill) at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 10:00a.m. – 12:30p.m.
The theme for this year’s symposium is “Treaties and Alliances,” and will feature presentations by the three scholars, exploring how treaties and alliances contributed to conflict and cooperation between the U.S. and the Southeastern tribes from the 1790s through Indian Removal.
Speakers will include Dr. Kathryn H. Braund, Hollifield Professor of Southern History Emerita at Auburn University; Dr. Susan M. Abram, Associate Instructor of History at Western Carolina University; Dr. Christopher D. Haveman, Associate Professor of History at the University of West Alabama.
This event is made possible thanks to partnerships with Auburn University’s Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities at Pebble Hill, the National Park Service, and the Friends of Horseshoe Bend.
The symposium is FREE to the public and no registration is required. The event begins at 10:00am and will conclude at 12:30pm.
