Trails at Overlook Park
The 3 trails at Overlook Park are CRATA’s first trails that were constructed in 2004 and total 7.2 miles of trail. All three trails are tied together so you can hike from 1 mile to 7 miles with several combinations. Here are the different hiking distance configurations.
These trails consist of great views of Lake Martin, mountain longleaf pine, native azaleas, and mountain laurel. These are just a few of the interesting things that will delight the hiker.
Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail
-
Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail is the first loop trail that is 4 miles long. It will bring you right back to the picnic area and scenic overlook.
Chimney Rock Loop Trail
- Chimney Rock Loop Trail is the second trail of the three conjoined trails. Taking this trail will lead you down a 2 mile loop where you will be able to spot Chimney Rock across the water. It’s considered to be a moderately challenging trail that will bring you back to the initial Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail. This is just one of the many combination hikes you can take while at Overlook Park.
Kowaliga Bay Loop Trail
- Kowaliga Bay Loop Trail is the third trail of the three at Overlook Park. It’s also the shortest trail of the three at 1.2 miles. Remember you only have to complete at least one trail at each of the eight different locations to complete the Lake Martin Hiking Challenge!
