SUMMARY:Tallapoosa River Fest
DESCRIPTION:Join local and visiting outdoorsmen for a one-day paddle and celebration at the Tallapoosa River Fest! The paddle down the Harold Banks Canoe Trail begins at the historic Horseshoe Bend Bridge\, flows for 6 miles through scenic\, lush countryside\, and ends at Jay Bird Creek. During the journey through part of Alabama’s Scenic River Trail\, you’ll experience flat waters\, shoals\, and attractions like Peter’s Island\, Laura’s Leap\, Irwin Shoals\, and breath-taking Cahaba lilies. You might even see a bald eagle! Make plans to attend and enjoy a peaceful\, family-friendly adventure down the Tallapoosa River.  \nIn partnership with the Town of New Site\, we are excited to bring the New Site River Festival held in conjunction with the paddle. This family-friendly event will feature a variety of vendors\, games\, arts and crafts\, educational activities\, and a cornhole tournament benefitting the New Site Volunteer Fire Department! \nRegistration opens March 14\, 2024 and is first come\, first serve (maximum 200 participants). The $50 registration fee includes a shuttle service for paddlers and equipment\, a post-paddle cookout\, and participant T-shirt and other souvenir swag items! For ages 12 years and up. Please\, no novice paddlers for this event. You will need your own canoe or kayak for this trip.
